Is your computer legal?

Well, here I am again, sitting outside in the glorious March sun, thinking of things to type while I wait for my wife Liesl to finish her belly dancing class – yep, she is going to kill me for putting that in this months article 😉

I don’t know whether you’re like me and always on the lookout for a bargain. If you are then you will like a web site I found this month caught my eye – http://www.free-stuff.co.uk – the site lists 100’s of offers from UK companies, everything from a free “quit smoking plan” to the chance to win a free “Ikea Shopping Trip”

Other web sites that have caught my eye this month include www.kayak.es where you can look for cheap flights in much the same way as you can at www.skyscanner.net

Now, while you are waiting for all the information in these websites to download, I have some great news about the Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica; the company have just announced an even faster ADSL broadband service which is now available in much of our area.

Their new top speed 10Mbit service has only just become available here and costs only 10 euros per month more than the current 3Mbit service currently used by many of us. The 3Mbit service has also had a price change – making it actually cheaper, in the first year, than the lower speed 1Mbit service!

For those of you that are still without a cable provided phone or Internet service (like those at the bottom of the hill near the petrol station in Gran Alacant) you could do worse than contact MegaVista – www.megavista.es – they provide an excellent wireless Internet service that can provide you with Internet and telephone access without the need to have a land line – and no, I don’t receive any commission from them!

Finally on the 4th, 5th and 6th April I shall be hosting a series of computer workshops for The Jungle Drums at the Homes & Gardens Show in Alicante – www.alicante.homesandgardensexpo.com/Index1.html, it would be great to see you there.
