Windows 10 Wi-Fi “connected but no Internet” Issue…
Problem: Computer is reporting as not connected to the internet, however other devices (tablet, other computers etc.) on the same wireless network connect to the Internet without problem.
Affects: As far as we are aware we have only seen the problem on computers using Windows 10
Description: The Wi-Fi icon at the bottom right of the desktop shows a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it and when hovered over with the mouse pointer it reports “connected but no Internet”
Solution: The solution that we have found works for everyone with this particular problem is to forget the Wi-Fi network, reconnect and reboot – specific instructions are below…
- Left click on the Wi-Fi icon and select “network settings”
- Click Manage Wi-Fi settings
- Under Manage known networks, click the network you want to delete.
- Click Forget. This will disconnect you from your Wi-Fi network, you will need your Wi-Fi password to continue.
- Left click on the Wi-Fi icon
- Click on the Wi-Fi name that you just removed and click Connect
- Enter the wi-fi password for this network
- At this stage your Wi-Fi icon will still show as having no Internet
- Now restart your computer by clicking on the start button (bottom left of the desktop)
- Click the Power icon
- Click restart and when your computer starts up it should now connect successfully to the Internet
